Actor Mohit Marwah, also Sonam Kapoor’s cousin who plays Prem Kumar Sahgal in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Raag Desh – Birth of a Nation, will be meeting the Sahgal family in New Delhi soon. The actor portrays the character of Colonel Sahgal, who was part of the Indian National Army (INA) under Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The movie is based on the INA trials following the Second World War.
The actor was stationed in New Delhi for a month long schedule of the movie and shot at the iconic Red Fort among other real locations. Raag Desh revolves around Colonel Sahgal, Colonel Gurbaksh Singh Dhillon and Major General Shah Nawaz Khan, who were earlier in the British Indian army and taken as prisoners of war and sentenced to death in Delhi in what is famously known as the INA Trials. They were tried for waging a war against the British Empire. However, they were later released.The trials began on November 5, 1945 and the concluded on December 31, but the convicts were released on January 4, 1946.
