Twenty-two buildings explored for Trapped

A still from Trapped

Trapped directed by Vikramaditya Motwane is India’s first survival drama. The film starring Rajkummar Rao in the lead is a story about this man who is trapped inside a building for days. Incidentally, the makers explored 22 buildings before finding the perfect location for the film. The makers finally closed in on a non-occupied building in the business district of Parel, Mumbai. The hunt for the location lasted nearly two months. The film was shot on the 30th floor of a flat.

The director wanted the perfect location as he had specific requirements from the building like a precise geography of the neighbourhood, the layout of the building and the flat. It was these intricate details that were minutely looked into. The location came with its set of obstacles for the team as the elevator was operational only upto the sample flat which was on the 25th floor. The crew would climb the remaining five floors every day, along with their heavy equipment. There would also be days when the elevator would not work at all, leaving the crew to climb thirty floors with all the instruments and other items needed for the shoot. Trapped hits the theatres on March 17.
