Shraddha Kapoor

Shraddha Kapoor plays the role of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s sister, Haseena Parker in Haseena directed by Apoorva Lakhia. The film, no doubt, provides Shraddha with a challenge. Since Shraddha plays such a strong character, she was quizzed about her favourite female roles in Bollywood.

The actress begins with her aunt, Padmini Kolhapure’s role in Prem Rog. She says that her sensitive portrayal of her character really inspired her. She also talks about Sridevi in Chaalbaaz, Waheeda Rehman in Pyaasa, Madhuri Dixit in Hum Aapke Hain Koun and  Karisma Kapoor in Judwaa. These characters have stayed with her over the years and motivated her to choose varied roles.

In recent times, Bollywood has seen a number of powerful portrayal of women on screen. Among them, Kareena Kapoor in Jab We Met, Kangana Ranaut in Queen and Priyanka Chopra in Aitraaz have impressed Shraddha a lot. These strong characters were not only well written by talented writers, but were also phenomenally performed by the actresses. The USP of her favourite characters is that they have cut across all genres and are etched in people’s minds and have influenced Shraddha to diversify as an actress.
