Actor R Madhavan, who played a retired boxer-turned-coach in Sudha Kongara’s Irudhi Suttru, has won the Best Actor award at the second edition of IIFA Utsavam 2017 for the Tamil sports drama. The Hindi version titled Saala Khadoos had also won appreciation from audiences and critics. The film stars Ritika Singh as Madhavan’s student.
Interestingly, Irudhi Suttru was nominated in five major categories including Best Movie, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor Female and Best Singer Female. Says Madhavan, “It was wonderful to win the award on the global platform. The response to Irudhi Suttru and Saala Khadoos has been overwhelming. I think after four years of hard work and challenges I feel truly vindicated.” Irudhi Suttru last year was screened at the prestigious Tokyo International Film Festival.
