Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s next with filmmaker Kushan Nandy’s Babumoshai Bandookbaaz is a gripping drama and Kushan is all praise for the versatile actor. Nawazuddin plays an action hero in the film. “You will see Nawaz’s astonishing range in this film. He is a fabulous actor, but in this film, he is a true blue hero. His character is endearing and has a lot of fun. But when he is brutal, he is extremely so,” informs Kushan.

“Nawaz indulges in action for survival and also for love, friendship, rivalry and payback. The action consists mostly of hand-to-hand combat and Nawaz has had a few accidents while shooting those scenes,” the director adds.

“For the pre-climax scene of the film, we were shooting in a really narrow lane which had a very steep slope. It was barely three feet wide and there were a number of junior artists and the crew of the film present. The shot required Nawaz to run down the slope and slam open a door and barge into a house. And Nawaz insisted on keeping the door actually locked from inside. He put his entire force on the door and broke the lock and gave a brilliant shot. His cut and severely injured his shoulder. The shot is retained in the film,” he says.

Babumoshai Bandookbaaz also stars Divya Dutta, Bidita Bag, Murli Sharma, Jatin Goswami, Shraddha Das, Anil George, Jeetu Shivhare and Bhagwan Tiwari. It is scheduled to release this summer.
